Probability of Intercept is an important specification for any serious Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer. It is the only way to know if your power measurements are accurate given a signal’s on time. in General App Discussion

Hi,
I started a project with a friend who plays drums and was looking for an app that takes incoming audio signal or midi (preferably) and translate it to midi clock ,to avoid metronome. Is there something for iOS ?

As realtime processor maybe midiflow could be programmed to that but why not just use a tap tempo? Are you changing tempo over the song?

For desktop machines there are circular logic inTime software and some maxforlive devices cappable of that magic.

    Edit:
So if him is going to use Ableton you could link with Link technology and apps like link2midi or midi Link sync..

Ipad pro garageband fix free. Drum => midi tap or audio2midi maxforlive/inTime app => Ableton link/midi clock => iOS device..

If you want actual MTC - there's a great Free M4L plugin - it actually uses a Bridge to an external Max Gui, because it's not possible to generate accurate MTC w/in Live. http://showsync.info/tools/livemtc/

You just open the M4L Device in Live, then the external MTC Bridge, select your Output(s) - and you're good to go.

On iOS there is a Free app called MIDI TIMECODE - that will display the incoming TimeCode, and then output it anywhere. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/midi-timecode/id561653048?mt=8

(MidiFlow also works perfectly in this regard, but not free) - just set the Incoming Keyboard to the IAC Driver Bus, Output wherever you want MTC sent.

I use the IAC Driver Bus from the MAC as the MTC transport - use Network Session for Wireless (or whatever your preference).

  • Just came across another tool from the same developer which you can put on an Ableton track, it outputs SMPTE for the clips, and reads warp markers as well. Might be more practical if you're looking for an Audio to MTC conversion: http://showsync.info/tools/clipsmpte/

  • Thanks for the feedback
But I am looking something that can detect the kick from a drumset (or edrum preferably ) and calculate the tempo. (and send midi clock)
It doesn't work with tap tempo ,strange things happens since tap tempo requires specific number of hits for one measure. And there is no computer (only ipad and hardware)

  • Something like this but for iOS (it's a freeware now VST)

  • You could try to split/double the signal from the sensor and attach one to kick and the other to snare to take the 3/4 hits tap tempo usually needs to calculate bpm. If you go diy route some diodes will be useful to avoid retriggering

  • fun one - how about something to register a thresh hold from the kick that triggers a clock signal.
